Haircare Recommendations

Something I get asked continuously is what are the best haircare products.

Once again, there were very clear top products that stood out immediately as fan favorites. Here is the round up of everything from shampoo to styling tools. I love being able to leverage this community to help each other out for product categories that are flooded in the market.

Shampoo/Conditioner

Pureology Hydrate - This Shampoo + Conditioner was hands down the top vote by a landslide. This combo is good on all hair types, especially for color-treated hair.

Dry Shampoo

It was an absolute tie between Batiste and Living Proof as best dry shampoo. I personally own and love both, but the tiebreaker is the price point. Living Proof is almost 4x the price of Batiste.

Tip:

I don't love the smell of the OG Batiste formula, I use the Brunette formula linked here which I think smells better and works well on any darker hair.

Hair Mask

Hair masks are great products to help hydrate and nourish your hair. They don't need to be used daily, but can give your hair an extra boost if used 1-2x a week. The top two products you all love are Olaplex No. 8 and the Amika Soulfood Nourishing Mask.

Olaplex - Helps to rebuild broken hairs and should be used weekly on damp hair, I suggest just using on the ends of your hair and not at the scalp.

Amika - Is meant to be used weekly and left in for 5-7 minutes after you shampoo - it will nourish and improve your softness and shine!

Hair Oil

Verb Ghost Oil - This was the top submission for amazing hair oil. This oil helps to reduce frizz and increase shine. It can be used daily on damp hair by simply using 2-3 drops from roots to end.

Hair Sprays

There are so many sprays out there for anything from texture to holding curls, so many of you loved the same products in this category - here are the standouts:

It's a 10 - leave in miracle product that immediately reduce frizz, increases shine and creates a silkiness. Simple spray a little in your hands and run it through your dry hair.

Bumble and Bumble Texturizing Spray - product for styling dry hair when using any heating tools, helps give your hair a grip for easy styling.

Nexxus Finishing Mist - a great everyday hair spray that isn't too heavy and nice for all weights of hair that will give you more volume.

For Curly Hair

Those with curly hair have likely tried a range of products and I got a ton of passionate submissions about which ones stand out as the best - the Moroccan Oil Curl Defining Cream and Curlsmith Curl Defining Styling Souffle by far got the top votes!

Moroccan Oil - This product helps to separate and define your curls, that helps give you frizz-free curls.

Curlsmith Styling Souffle - Is known to moisturize and hold your curls in place. Initially your curls may feel hard, but after scrunching them you break the cast and are left with soft and defined curls.

Hair Styling Tools

Wet Brush - I own and absolutely love my Wet Brush, there is honestly not a better brush out there to get through your hair, it does not snag or rip at all and it's good for all hair types

Dyson Hair Dryer - the votes say it all, the amount of submissions shocked me at how many of you love this hair dryer, especially considering the steep price tag. It measures the air temp to help reduce any damage to your hair and protect shine. They offer a range of attachments so it can be used on all types of hair and it works incredibly fast. A lot of comments on how amazing this is for those with really thick hair.

BaByliss Hair Dryer - if you are looking for a premium hair dryer that won't cost you a crazy amount, this has been one of my top recommended products from the start and I'm so glad so many of you love it too.

Revlon Hot Brush - this cult favorite, one step volumizing hot brush can help you get that at home blow out. From my experience reviewing it, you should not use it on really wet hair, instead when it as almost fully dried or is already dry to get best results.

BaByliss Flat Iron - this flat iron straightens without ever pulling on your hair, it heats up quick and has an extra slim, easy to hold design.

BaByliss Curling Iron - a lot of love for Babyliss as the brand has really nice products at a more reasonable price. I also own this curling iron and love it!
