cold weather essentials for toddlers.

Happy first day of Fall! We woke up in the midwest to temps in the 40s! There is always that first panic of the season when you realize your child has outgrown all of their cold weather gear and you scramble to find it and buy the next size. Here are all the essentials to stock up on (don't sleep on this because sizes and colors often sell out early). This may look like a lot of gear but I provide options if you prefer mittens vs gloves for mild and cold temps as well as lightweight and heavyweight outerwear!

  1. Lightweight Glove - when fall hits and you don't need a full on snow glove, but want a lightweight glove to wear outside

  2. N'Ice Caps Fleece Mittens - if you prefer a mitten, we love these! They come in infants (without a thumb hole) or toddler sizes up to age 6

  3. SnowStopper Mittens - these are the best mittens for toddlers, they have an extra long cuff to prevent snow from getting up their sleeve and helping them stay on better

  4. SnowStopper Gloves - the brand just also released a glove version of their best selling mittens, if your kiddo prefers a glove then these are the best and have the same extra long cuff to prevent snow from coming in and so they stay on better

  5. Carhartt Beanie - our whole family has Carhartt Beanies, they are so affordable and come in a ton of colors

  6. Furtalk Faux Fur Beanie - when the temps are a little cooler, this lined beanie comes in a ton of colors, the pom pom can be removed for washing

  7. Neck Gaiter - in the midwest a neck gaiter is essential to keep your little one's neck and face warm while they are outside in really cold weather

  8. Snow Bib Overalls - I prefer dressing my kids in bib snow pants so snow doesn't get down their pants, these Arctix ones are so affordable and have held up so well for us. Sizes 3T-5T linked here and Sizes 12M-2T linked here

  9. Bogs Snow Boots - I cannot recommend these boots enough, they are so durable will last you through several kids so I suggest getting a neutral color. They are easy for the kids to pull on and off themselves. They are a bit pricier, but if you live somewhere where you use snow boots often, they are worth the investment. Linked here on sale right now Amazon or Zappos has a huge assortment here.

  10. Northside Winter Snow Boots - if you are looking for something more affordable that will get the job, or perhaps you need a second pair of boots for daycare/school we own these as well. Sizes and colors are already selling out!

  11. Patagonia Fleece - we love these fleece jackets for both fall and spring! They come in adorable colors and you can always count on Patagonia for top notch quality. Girls linked here and boys linked here.

  12. Cat & Jack Fleece - for a more affordable fleece option, Target has several colors of this fleece jacket

  13. LL Bean Down Puffer - LL Bean is one of the best outdoor brands out there, these down puffers will be sure to keep your little one warm, available in infant, toddler and kid sizes

  14. Gap Outerwear - for great quality outerwear at a more affordable price (and also goes on sale) check out all of Gap's styles. Girls linked here and Boys linked here.
